we all know sec 3 life is super stressful.. homework.. test after test..

then there's still FDC..accreds..EVERYTHING!!!

but if we work as a team..im sure we can pull it through :D

it may be hard...but all things are possible.

Lets just give it our all.. footdrill may be tiring.. but all those wont matter anymore when we feel that satisfactory sensation(!!)

hey! Pls pass me all the posters by 6.45am tomorrow at my class 3G3 (F block third level). Pls don't be late as i have to hand in all of them by 7am. Rmb to include the red cross emblem in your posters and the emblem can be of any sizes but all of the sides must be equal. you can use your computer to draw or hand draw. Pls put in your effort to do it as i think you also do not want to redo them again. YOU HAVE TO DO 2 POSTERS!
Another thing!- those that can fall-in by 3pm pls do so for those that cannot then fall-in by 3.30pm. You also have to bring drawing materials to redo those posters that ma'ams rejected tomorrow.

hey squadmates!
like last year, we have to prepare 2 souvenirs, with a quantity of 60 each.
the dateline is first day of school,
we have to show a sample of both souvenirs on the second wk of the holidays(5-10 november)
so since we have to have footdrill practices ( the confirmed date for footdrill practice would be posted on a later date, but please try to keep 5 to 10 nov free ), I would suggest that everyone should try to do a sample and bring it on the day which we have footdrill practice which would be between the 5th and 10th november. hopefully we would be able to pass the samples to yejing and ruiting ma'am since we have to inform them of the squad practices we have for footdrill so they would be able to come down to coach us if they are free.

here's some other info that's quoted from the redcross mail.

"both activity and combine training will most probably fall on the 5th-9th november. we apologize for not being able to confirm the date of the combine training as we are still unable to get confirmation for some other person. there would not be any activity on the first week(29oct-2nov) as the NCOs are having many many lessons. lastly, if youre having any sekuad meetings/lessons within the sekuad, remember to inform the respective ncos about it. and remember to start your holiday assignments early, as the holidays as well as the beginning of school are busy periods! but most of all, happy holidays and enjoy them yeah!

Please make sure that all food items are HALAL.

today i'm here to send an official invitation to every single member of CRCU to attend the once-in-a-lifetime sec 4s barbeque party! it is in conjunction with our squad chalet but we honestly hope those who can turn up will attend this informal event, partly to celebrate the stepping-down and graduation of the sec4s as well.

your ex-level heads would also love to see the presence of the majority of their own squads, such as verna and yanyue for the sec1s, diana and yuhua(unable to attend though) for the sec2s and veronica and monica(she can go leh!) for the sec3s.

other than that, we would also be inviting jiahui senior's batch and madeline senior's batch. at this current moment, we have not confirmed the presence of any seniors yet.

so basically, it would be a mixture of past and present batches of cadets and NCOs!

don't think that we'll provide you with food! as our squad is utterly broke, we can only provide for our own stomachs, so see below:

if the i/c isn't going for activity,
you(i/c) still must call everyone the night before activity or earlier
before asking someone else to take over your place to report during activity...

there will be no activity until further notice :)

Charity draw booklets & money.

hey squadmates

I'll be collecting the charity draw booklets and money on wednesday.
I've been asked to pass the booklets and money up by my recess time on thursday, so I thought its best that I collect on wednesday.
anw I'll be going from class to class before assembly. So please do be in your classes to pass me the charity draw booklets and money.
There's no need to go to my class, just stay in your own classes.
Please do try to sell the whole booklet too.

If you've got probs selling, leave a tag on the tagboard to inform me, I'll help you :)
If you need me to remind you to bring the booklets and money, leave a tag, currently, I know weien needs me to remind her, so yupp, anyone more that needs reminders can tell me so, I'll call your on tuesday night to remind your.

Reporting before firedrill
- Total strength: number of first aiders who are in the squad
- Total present: number of first aiders who are falling in front of you.
- Total absent: 0

* Briefly tell squad about the firedrill details.

Reporting after firedrill
- Total strength: same as total strength when reporting before the firedrill
- Total present: number of first aiders present at the base before time due. (Those who survived or are still treating casualties)
- NEVER FORGET to mention those who are still treating and have not fallen in with the squad.
- Total absent: people who have died
- Number of casualties saved: number of casualties saved/alive.

Some changes with regard to friday's camp:

Labelling would now include forks and spoons.
The font and font size wld remain as comic sans, 12, bold.
BUT! cut around the name in a rectangle shape.
There would NOT be any space around the name.

Also, each grp would now need 3 sets of mess tins, not 5 sets.
so it means that each would wld have to get 3 big mess tins and 3 small mess tins.

Rules and regulations.

Attire.

- Mufti worn is to be tucked in at all times. This includes before or after activity and outside of school.
- No ABCD : No arguing, bargaining, complaining or dragging of footwear.
- School rules apply at all times.
- Shoes have to be tied with double knots at all times.
- No ankle socks are allowed.
- Spectacle hooks are to be worn throughout the whole activity.
- No jewelleries such as necklaces, bracelets and friendship bands are to be worn unless a valid reason is given.
- Red Cross nametag to be worn at all times.
- Any other food given, such as sweets or any own food that you have, are strictly not allowed to be consumed. You must only eat the food provided during the meals.
- No coloured bras are allowed.

When sitting/standing.
- Fists are to be clenched and put on knees.
- Back should be straight and not leaning against the chair.
- Feet should be closed together with heels touching.
- Shoulders should be pulled back.
- Look smart and look up.
- In diam position, make sure your eyes are fixed and not moving around.
- Always stand on both legs and do not slouch.

When moving to the next destination.
They are suppose to run to the next destination.
If the floor is wet, they are to brisk walk.
If they need to go anywhere, they are to go in pairs.
Anyone found alone would be “kidnapped” by the NCOs.

For Outdoor cooking, you all would be grouped as following.

You all are given the above variety of food to choose from. But for the groups with 4 people, you all have to get 4 packets of maggi and 3 cans of food. Your budget is $8.00. For those with 5 people, you have to get 5 packets of maggi and 4 cans of food. Your budget is $10.00.
The above amount of food items is to ensure that you all will not get hungry throughout the entire half-day camp.

Most importantly of all, you all should be aware of the dietary restrictions of your own groupmates so that you all would not buy the wrong food stuff. And you all must also make sure that you all would not exceed your own budget. Receipt would be collected by the IC when you all fall in and report.

so yup, here's the camp information.
I would like to highlight upon "Labelled plastic plate and mug (to be non-disposable and heat-resistant). "
I think it would be best that we print it like we print our bottle tags.
Dimensions: 2cm by 7cm.
Font & size: Comic Sans. bold.
Please note that each name has to be printed twice as we need 2 for both the plate and mug.
I would be printing extra for everyone extra in case anyone's tag smudges.
I think its best if one sec 2 from each Outdoor Cooking group would help everyone in the group to print which includes sec 1s. please inform the sec 1s we would help them to print so that they wouldnt have to worry yeah?[:
And for those who don't have printer, please do come early, which includes sec 1s, so rmb to ask them to come early.
I would be in school at 6.15am.
I know its real early, but yeah, its better to be prepared earlier! :]

so yupp, with regards to food, another sec 2 from the Ourdoor Cooking group can be in charge of buying the food and other materials needed.
If this sec 2 in-charge of food has some problems, do feel free to seek help from your group members or tag our squad blog to inform the others and we can help you then :]

Hey all, here are some of the common injuries that will occur during mass run
i'll put down the treatment also :)

GRAZES & CUTS
treatment:
1. Pour chlorhexidine over the injury
2. Apply pressure on the injury with guaze swabs (if bleeding)
3. Use a guaze swab and tab gently to dry the wound
4. Spread anticeptic cream on a new guaze swab by using a cotton bud
5. Use the gauze swab(with the anticeptic) to clean the wound
6. Use a new gauze swab with anticeptic cream and cover over the wound
7. Use micropore tape and stick the 4 sides of the guaze swab which is on the wound!
~END~

STRAINS & SPRAINS
treatment: (rice method)
1. Advise the casualty to sit or lie down(use your knee to support the injured prt)
2. Rest the injured part
3. Apply ice or a cold compress
4. Compress the injury
5. Elevate the injured part

* As we will have no cold compress or ice with us,
i think we do leg bandage on the casualty first,
den bring her back to canteen and ice her injury.
Remember to ask ma'am abt this tomorrow!

HEAT EXHAUSTION
treatment:
1. Help casualty to a cool place (try fanning her)
2. Get her to lie down with raised legs
3. Give her plenty of water (weak salt solution if possible)

i think these 3 injuries are the common ones...
but do revise others such as

- Heatstroke ;pg204 (not likely)
- Sunburn ;pg 202 (lol, not likely)
- Ankle injury ;pg 174 (possible)
- Knee injury ;pg 172 (likely)
- Back pain ;pg 168 (perhaps)
-Wrist injury ;pg 162
- Fainting ;pg 126 (not likely)
- Sudden Aathma ;pg 115 (not likely) gotta ask ma'ams

ok that's all, meet outside rc room at 6.55am
but do come early as we do not want to be late.

To supporters
- meet at jurong east interchange around 0915-0945 [ time will be confirmed later ]
- lunch :
(1) bring money to buy food from canteen, but only one drink stall and
one halal food stall will be open, so it'll be very packed.
(2) bring own lunch
- only restricted to move around canteen and hall
- no cheering and jeering, except during prize presentations.
- bring other necissities e.g. wallet, umbrella et cetera
- will end around 1300
- if ma'ams manage to get into second round, will end around 1530

To lisa & chewyan only
- bring :
(1) stationery & writing materials
(2) 1.5l bottle
(3) extra set of clothes to change into
(4) wet tissue / towel [to clean off make up i guess]

the i/c for the week would be the one saying "sec 1s and 2s, on the count of 2,3,4 greet _______ when we are in the mini forum before activity

the i/c for the week would be the one organising squad meetings for pratices on our RC subjects.

the previous i/c of the previous week would be the right marker!

if you want squad meetings and your not the i/c, you may tell the i/c nicely " May you organise a squad meeting for ______ (the blank is the purpose of the meeting) on _______ ( the blank is the date & time ). and the i/c will help to call everyone and inform everyone! the i/c can also inform squadmates about activity at the same time to save time okay? :)

I'll be linking this post up, so you can check the "links" section of this blog to refer back to this "new stuff"

and thr wld be a meeting to fill up a form, which shows the timetable of everyone after school for the entire week ( monday to friday ) and also usually what activities we have for sat and sunday, like some squadmates have church and family gatherings and stuff.

After we finished filling up the form, I wld scan it, upload it on photobucket and then leave the link at the "links" section of the blog, so anyone can save it into their computer and refer to it.

I think that would be a great help to the i/c if they suddenly find they cant contact a person say at 4pm on a saturday. and on th form, it says the person is at church, 4pm on saturday, then the I/c dun have to worry larh! :D cause the i/c knows that the person is out and she can call later.

-Write ONLY YOUR NAME ON EVERY NEW SHEET OF PAPER you use
-Numbering (same as the previous post) PUT FULL STOP AFT THE NO. eg. 1.
-put FULL STOP after every sentence
-sentence to write; ' We will never leave our tablet in the open again. '
-leave NO LINE
-if you finish writing for the 1st page, CONTINUE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF PAPER.
-if there's a need to correct, please USE EITHER CORRECTION TAPE/FLUID.
please DO NOT CANCEL
-use a SILVER STAPLER BULLET to staple your two sheets of paper together

- write FULLSTOP after every line
- do not leave a line
- use BLUE pen
- for the numbering, write it as 1. (which means number then a FULLSTOP)

hello people, i am going to blog about some problems.dun be offended ok but if you are.
I'M SRY. i have no intention of hurting anybody in this post but just read it.

ok for those who left early on thurs activity...
Hazel,Shahilah and Joanne ma'am talked to us again aft activity.
she asked us to voice out our feelings to them.so...some did. and some even cried.

Joanne ma'am asked us questions like

'Have you been selfish towards your squadmates?'
'Why dun you tell yourself to enjoy activities instead of dreading it?'
'How can we help or do for your squad'

the first question goes out to those who dun even bother to initiate or turn up for meetings that some organised.For those who are not even giving a damn abt initiating or putting in efforts, i'll have nothing to say but you're the ones who are
pulling the unit down from eua gold to ??? i dunno what

I know some of you are just coming for activity for the sake of cca points. It's not wrong.
But just ask yourself, no matter whether it's for the sake of cca points or some other reasons,
by comin for activities, do you feel that if you've enjoyed yourself in rc?
If we are promoted to ma'ams, is anyone going to pon rc because you're a ma'am.If that's the case, i dunno what will happen to crcy.

I know some just dread rc.
Like what Joanne ma'am said, just enjoy the activities and not like dreading it for 4 years.

ok, here's the answer to the third question:

I dun think anyone can help our squad except for ourselves.
Some dislike rc because you're force into this cca.
but what can we do?
reality is reality.
for those who eally really dislike rc, i think it's no point for us to encourage you to like it.
Even if we did, you'll find us
troublesome or bossy.I said that its no point because you've already tell yourself not to like rc, so no matter what we tell you, you'll think that it's crap.
there's nothing we can do to make you love rc as
you're the one who has the rights to decide what you want.
if you dun have the passion for rc,
why say yes in the first place when the ma'ams asked us if we have.

so, for those who dread rc, do you wanna continue this and pull the unit down?
the snrs had contributed in so much efforts to maintain the unit
and is their efforts going to waste all because of our actions?
some of you will think that this post is totally crap and shit,
i won't blame you as it's your right to decide if this is really shit

i seriously feels that our squad is the slackest and the laziest among the unit.

for the punishment for the bottle tags, we are supposed to write a REFLECTION OF 250 WORDS. it is due by NEXT MONDAY, 30/07/2007 AT 7AM.

so if possible, the i/c (which is CHEWYAN) haf to collect our reflections and hand in to the hazel ma'am at 7 am SHARP. hazel ma'am "REMINDED" us not to be LATE, NOT EVEN ONE SECOND!

here are the details of the reflections:
- write 250 words (not more and not less)
- use BLUE pen
- write in CRESCENT FOOLSCAP PAPER (try to...)
- have the number of words written at the end of the reflections (i know itz kinda lame, but juz do it!)
